The Endocrine Society applauds the White House’s executive order led by First Lady Melania Trump to advance research and improve care for women and girls throughout every stage of life.
The order establishes the White House’s new Women’s Health Task Force and a Women’s Health Division within the National Institutes of Health.
“We’re grateful to the First Lady and President for recognizing that women’s health has been overlooked and underfunded for far too long. This initiative provides an important opportunity to accelerate scientific discovery, improve patient care, and advance the health and well-being of women nationwide, goals the Endocrine Society share with the White House,” said Endocrine Society President Nanette Santoro, MD. “We welcome the opportunity to work together to prioritize women’s health research and close the significant gaps in our understanding of conditions such as polyendocrine metabolic ovary syndrome (PMOS), menopause, infertility, osteoporosis, thyroid disorders and other endocrine diseases that disproportionately affect women.”
As the global leader in hormone science and health, the Endocrine Society works with policymakers, researchers, clinicians and patient advocates to advance research that improves the lives of women and their families.
