Congress Reaches Compromise to End Shutdown Temporarily; Your Voice Needed to Protect NIH Funding

After three days of a federal government shutdown and congressional negotiations, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Republican leaders reached a deal to reopen the government and keep the government funded for three weeks.

Another shutdown looms February 8 if Congress cannot resolve important issues, including immigration and raising budget caps. Congress needs to hear from YOU, their constituents, NOW about the need to provide robust, sustained, and predictable funding. We urge all U.S. Endocrine Society members to join our efforts to protect federal programs important to endocrinology such as funding for the National Institutes of Health and the Special Diabetes Program.
