The Director, DEM, is the leader of one of the four Extramural Divisions in NIDDK.  The Division, which is mandated by the authorizing legislation which created NIDDK, is responsible for maintaining a research program in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The qualifications of the Director include an M.D. degree or equivalent, national recognition for leadership in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic diseases research, and significant management experience. Sub-specialization in endocrinology is desirable, but candidates with other training and substantial research accomplishments relevant to diabetes and endocrine and metabolic diseases will be considered.
