The Campbell Soup Co. will stop using the endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC) Bisphenol A (BPA) in its canned products by the middle of next year, according to the Associated Press.
Despite using BPA for over 40 years, Campbell maintains that it is still one of the safest packaging options and is making this change to reassure consumers who are concerned that the substance could be potentially harmful. Campbell began studying BPA alternatives in 2012.
