Leslie Sawin visited the Endocrine Society office and brought more books to add to the already impressive collection in the library named for her late husband, the renowned endocrine researcher and clinician, Clark T. Sawin.
“Leslie Sawin’s generous endowment and library donation preserve the rich history of endocrinology, provide resources for scholars and uphold the tradition of leadership Dr. Clark Sawin exemplified throughout his life,” says Endocrine Society chief executive officer Barbara Byrd Keenan. “Leslie Sawin is a tremendous friend of the Society and I look forward to working with her in the future on initiatives that position the history of endocrinology as the foundation of exploring the future of research, discovery and new therapies and treatment regimens. She plans to be our guest in Boston at the Centennial and joining in the celebration!”
The Clark T. Sawin Memorial Library was established at the Endocrine Society’s national office in 2006. In addition to supporting the endowment of the library, Mrs. Sawin donated Dr. Sawin’s personal library collection which includes more than 6,500 books, meeting programs from endocrine organizations circa 1930 through current day, professional and personal research papers, slides, and many historical articles.
Today, the library holds more than 8,100 items including books, audio and video tapes, medical instruments, and awards donated by members and friends of the Endocrine Society.
